Luke: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Lorelai: today’s not birthday, it’s in three days.

Logan: Rory, I promise you nothing happened between me and Lily.
Rory: I don’t know if I can believe that.
Logan: and why is that?
Rory: because she looks like one of the girls from your past.
Logan: she is in my past.
Rory: you just said she wasn’t.
Logan: no, I said nothing happened between us.
Rory: she’s from your past, and you didn’t do anything?
Logan: no.
Rory: I find that really hard to believe.
Logan: Rory.
Rory: don’t Rory me. I know your past Logan, maybe not all of it, but I know who you we’re and what you did, and she was in there.
Rory gets up and goes back into her room. She stands, leaned up against her door and slides down it and starts to cry. Logan goes over to the door and listens.

Tristan: well this is my last night in the Gilmore house.
Tristan sits down.
Rory: what?
Tristan: yeah, my house is done. I can move in as soon as tomorrow.
Rory: oh, that’s great Tristan.
Tristan: yeah, I’m excited.
Rory: I would be too.

Rory sits at the counter by a tall girl with blonde hair. Rory looks over at her. Jess comes by.
Jess: Rory, this is Cecilia. Cecilia this is Rory.
Cecilia: so your Rory?
Rory: so your Cecilia?

Cecilia: I have to ask you something.
Rory: okay?
Cecilia: how do you go all day hanging around Jess and not wanting to kiss him?
Rory: excuse me?
Cecilia: I mean he is so cute.
Rory: I don’t know, I guess it helps that I have a boyfriend, for the time being, but…..
Cecilia: oh that would make it little easier.
Rory: it would.

Rory goes up the stairs to Lily’s room and knocks. Lily answers.
Lily: hello?
Rory: oh hey Lily.
Lily: Rory? What are you doing here?
Rory: I came to see if you knew where Logan was?
Lily: yeah, he’s getting food.
Rory: oh okay.
Lily: you can join us if you want, I wanted to call and ask you, but Logan thought that would be a bad idea.
Rory: he was probably right, could you tell him I stopped by?
Lily: sure, but Rory?
Rory: yeah?
Lily: nothing happened between me and Logan, we met each other on a plane, and we talked. He mostly talked about you. He loves you. And I’m extremely jealous of you.
Rory: thanks.
Lily nods, and Rory leaves.

Rory knocks at the door of Luke’s. There’s no answer. She knocks again. No answer. She grabs the spare key and unlocks the door. She walks up to the stairs and sees Cecilia and Jess are kissing.

Rory’s sitting in the gazebo by herself. It’s 2 am in the morning. The door to Luke’s open, Jess comes out. He looks around, then looks at the gazebo. He shakes his head and walks over. Rory is sitting with all the groceries and just staring, it looks as if she had been crying.
Jess: what are you doing out here?
Rory looks up, and wipes her eyes, like she still had been crying. Jess sits down next to her.
Jess: you know it’s like 30 degrees out here right?
Rory: yeah.
Jess: then why are you out here?
Rory: I don’t know.
Jess: are you okay?
Rory: I guess.
Jess: what do you mean?
Rory: it’s nothing.
Jess: you know you can tell me anything right?
Rory: yeah.
Jess: is there something you want to tell me?
Rory: no, it’s silly.
Jess doesn’t say anything.
Rory: oh Luke got you these groceries.
Jess looks at the bags.
Jess: we’re you bringing them to me?
Rory: I was.
Jess: what do you mean you we’re?
Rory: well I was until I saw something I probably wasn’t suppose to see.
Jess sighs.
Rory: yeah.
Jess: I like Cecilia.
Rory: like you like me?
Jess: what?
Rory: nothing.
Jess: Rory, I can’t wait around for you and Logan to finally hit the bricks. I know you thought I was going to wait for you to come to me, but I can’t cause lets face it, even if you and Logan don’t work out, I’m still the second choice. It’s hard to deal with that. I know you like me Rory, but I know what Logan means to you, and I’m not gonna just sit and wait for you to realize that I mean more to you.
Jess stands up and grabs the groceries.
Jess: I’m sorry Rory, I’m not Dean or Logan, I’m Jess. I don’t have the will to wait around forever.
Jess walks back into Luke’s. Rory starts to cry.

THE NEXT MORNING

Dean: Rory?
Rory sits up and looks at Dean.
Dean: what are you doing out here?
Rory looks around, and laughs.
Rory: I’m not really sure.
Dean: are you okay?
Rory: I’m fine just lost track of time.
Dean: okay, well I would stay and talk….
Dean glances over at Lindsey who is talking on the phone.
Rory: it’s okay go, you and Lindsey really belong together.
Dean smiles. Rory looks over at Luke’s and sees Cecilia walking in. She gets up and leaves.

Rory walks in the front door of the house. Tristan wakes up really fast and falls back to sleep. Logan comes rushing in.
Logan: thank God Ace. Where were you?
Logan hugs her. Rory hugs him back.
Rory: I fell asleep in the gazebo.
Logan: your okay though?
Rory: I’m fine.
Logan: good, you had me worried sick, your mom said not to, but I still did.
Rory: she was right you shouldn’t have worried.
Logan: I know.
Rory lets go.
Rory: I believe you.
Logan: you believe me what?
Rory: that nothing happened between you and Lily.
Logan: you do?
Rory: yeah, I’m sorry it took me this long though.
Logan: it’s okay.
Logan and Rory hug again. Luke comes running down stairs.
Luke: Rory.
Rory looks over Logan’s shoulder.
Rory: yeah?
Luke: I’m asking you a huge favor.
Rory: okay, ask?
Luke: I need you to go to New Mexico and get April.
Rory: what?
Luke: that’s what your mom wants for her birthday, I talked to Anna last night, she said that April really didn’t like New Mexico all that much and said she should come and stay with us for a while.
Rory: when you say for a while?
Luke: I guess that means you know for a couple of years, until Anna moves back, etcetera.
Rory: okay.
Luke: but you need to leave now, cause I’m sure it will take you a long time, you probably won’t get back until after her birthday which will make her believe it even more.
Rory: are you sure?
Luke: positive.
Rory: but I’m suppose to throw the party.
Luke: I know, so just give all the plans to Logan and Tristan, and they are in charge.
Rory looks at Logan then at Tristan.
Tristan: hey I didn’t sign up for party planning.
Luke: your sleeping on our couch so your gonna plan a party.
Tristan: not for long.
Luke: I know your moving, and that’s great. But your gonna put that on hold until the party is over, so one more night on the couch.
Tristan: fine.
Rory looks back at Logan.
Rory: can you handle this?
Logan: of course, I’ve got this under control.
Rory: remember purple…..
Logan: silver, and…….
Tristan: lime green.
Rory: you’ve heard it before. Sorry.
Rory hugs Logan again.
Luke: go Rory, go.
Rory: going.
Rory runs to her room, and comes back in 5 minutes with a bag.
Rory: I’m out, if mom ask I went on a quick trip to North Carolina with grandma.
Luke: already done.
Rory: how did she take me not being here for her party?
Luke: well, she was disappointed, but she understands that grandma wants to see the largest cheeseburger in the world.
Rory: what?
Luke: I don’t know, I had to pick something that would make your mom not be mad.
Rory: okay what about grandma?
Luke: already talked to her.
Rory: okay.
Luke: go.
Rory: sorry leaving.
Rory kisses Logan.
Logan: I love you Ace.
Rory: I love you too Huntzberger.
Rory smiles and leaves.
Luke: her party is tomorrow, make sure everything is in order.
Logan: we’re only two people.
Luke: get Lily, get Jess, get Kirk for all I care, just get it done.
Logan: okay!
Luke walks back upstairs. Lorelai is smiling.
Luke: what are you so smiley about?
Lorelai: well, with Rory gone, we can’t do my birthday tradition.
Luke: and what is that?
Lorelai: well we get our favorite movies that have come out this year, we grab popcorn, food from your place, and we stay up and watch all the movies, there usually isn’t that many since there hasn’t been any good movies, then we walk around Stars Hollow, until we have seen everything there is to see.
Luke: and when did the tradition start?
Lorelai: this year.
Luke: oh, so it’s our tradition.
Lorelai: yeah! That’s it, it’s our tradition.
Luke chuckles.
Lorelai: I like the sound of that, “it’s our tradition.”
Luke: it sounds wonderful.
Lorelai: so you game?
Luke: for you I would run naked in the rain.
Lorelai: ooohhhhh, the coffee addict loves the naked rain runner.
Luke: I guess so.
They kiss.

Cecilia is sitting next to Jess upstairs watching TV.
Cecilia: is something wrong?
Jess: what?
Cecilia: you look really zoned out, and like your not paying much attention to anything.
Jess: I’m fine, it’s nothing.
Cecilia: you can talk to me Jess.
Jess: I know.
Cecilia: then talk.
Jess: well you know Rory right?
Cecilia: yeah.
Jess: I think I might have hurt her feelings.
Cecilia: well did she need them hurt?
Jess: I don’t know, probably not, I probably overreacted.
Cecilia: maybe you should go talk to her.
Jess: what?
Cecilia: you guys seem really close, like best friends, maybe you should just talk to her.
Jess: I guess.
Cecilia: I have to go and run an errand, you go and talk to Rory, I’m sure she’ll understand.
Jess: okay.
Jess starts to walk for the door.
Cecilia: Jess?
Jess turns around.
Jess: yeah?
Cecilia: come here.
Jess walks over. Cecilia kisses him.
Cecilia: your forgot that.
Jess: oh I wouldn’t have wanted to leave without that.
Cecilia: exactly.
Jess smiles.
Jess: I’ll see ya later.
Cecilia: yeah later.
Jess leaves. Cecilia leaves behind him.

Logan: I don’t care if they don’t make silver flowers, find them!! I don’t want to hear it.
Jess knocks on the door.
Tristan: ugh!!!
Tristan throws a book on the couch.
Tristan (angrily): yeah?
Jess: well welcome to you too.
Tristan: oh great, help come in.
Tristan pulls Jess in.
Jess: I don’t really want to be held hostage.
Tristan: to bad. Your in charge of calling all the people on the guest list.
Tristan hands Jess a stack of papers, and a phone.
Tristan: get dialing.
Jess: what am I inviting them too?
Tristan: Lorelai’s party.
Jess: oh, so these are all the guest not just a whole bunch of pieces of paper.
Tristan: yep.
Jess picks up the phone.
Jess: hey Tristan?
Tristan: yeah?
Jess: where’s Rory?
Tristan: she left to New Mexico to get April.
Jess: so she’s not here?
Tristan: I just said she wasn’t.
Jess: sorry.
Jess dials the first number.

THAT NIGHT

Tristan: you sure you don’t mind me and Logan crashing at your house?
Dean: no it’s okay, I understand Lorelai and Luke needing some time.
Tristan: sweet.
Tristan and Logan walk in.
Logan: thanks Dean, it’s really appreciated.
Dean: yeah sure.
Dean shuts the door.
Dean: Logan you can have the couch.
Clara comes downstairs.
Clara: who are your friends Dean?
Dean: they are older than you, and your not even suppose to be here, your suppose to be away at college.
Clara: oh last minute changes, thought I would come home for quick visit, and I picked the right weekend.
Dean: I’m sure you did.
Clara: hi, I’m Clara.
Clara shakes Tristan’s hand.
Tristan: I’m Tristan.
Logan: I’m Logan.
Clara: hi.
Dean: okay now you know everyone upstairs.
Clara: why?
Dean: cause.
Clara: fine.
Clara goes upstairs.
Dean: well Tristan since Clara is here, your gonna have to have the floor.
Tristan: that’s okay.
There’s a knock at the door. Dean answers it.
Dean: Lindsey? Hey? What are you doing here?
Lindsey: I know you were looking for me, and I just wanted to know why?
Dean: oh, well I really wanted to know if we could talk about some of the stuff that happened in our past??
Logan nudges Tristan who is starring. Tristan moves, and looks at Logan.
Tristan (walking up the stairs): do you have good video games Dean?
Dean: a few.
Logan: take your time. No rushing.
Tristan and Logan walk upstairs.
Dean turns around.
Dean: sorry about that.
Lindsey giggles.
Lindsey: I think they’re funny.
Lindsey walks in smiling.
Dean: I really wanted to know if maybe we could get back together?
Lindsey’s smile turn into a serious line.
Lindsey: well, your quite blunt.
Dean: sorry, but I want to tell the truth.
Lindsey: that’s a start.
Dean: yeah it is.
Lindsey: well I mean IF we did get back together, we would have to take it slow.
Dean: I agree, not rushing into things.
Lindsey: exactly.
Dean: I also think that we should get to know each other better.
Lindsey: me too, I don’t think we knew each other enough last time, or our past.
Dean: same here.
Lindsey’s serious line turns into a smile.
Lindsey: hi, my name’s Lindsey. I love sleeping in until noon, I think chocolate is the best medicine, and I’ve been married once before.
Dean chuckles.
Dean: hi, my name’s Dean. I like to get up early, and watch the sunrise. I like coffee, and I’ve been married once before.
Lindsey: I think this is the starting of a beautiful relationship.
Dean: so do I.
Lindsey and Dean hook arms.
Dean: so what do you want to do on our first date?
Lindsey: lets go to the movies.
Dean: sounds great.
Dean opens the door.
Lindsey: thank you……..? What did you say your name was again?
Dean chuckles, and pokes Lindsey’s stomach.
Lindsey (giggling): hey!

Jess walks into his house, he sees Cecilia.
Jess: I think I have carpultunnel syndrome.
Cecilia doesn’t say anything.
Jess: Whatcha watching?
Cecilia: oh some silly show.
Jess: oh.
Cecilia: yeah.
Jess: is something wrong?
Cecilia: no.
Jess: okay.
Jess goes over to the fridge and pulls out cold pizza. He puts it in the microwave. Cecilia turns the TV off.
Cecilia: how’d it go with Rory?
Jess: she wasn’t there.
Cecilia: maybe that’s your sign that you and Rory should give it up.
Jess: what?
Cecilia: I mean you were friends, then you dated, then you didn’t talk, then you were friends.
Jess: how do you know that?
Cecilia: well I found a person, who I mentioned to that you were going to see Rory, and they just gave me a history lesson on Rory and Jess.
Jess: okay.
Cecilia: don’t you think you should have told me?
Jess: you didn’t tell me your past.
Cecilia: well my past wasn’t here, in Stars Hollow. And I wasn’t apologizing to him.
Jess: your mad cause I want to mend fences with my best friend?
Cecilia: no I’m mad that you didn’t tell me you wanted to mend fences with your ex girlfriend.
Jess: whatever.
Cecilia: like I said, maybe this was fates way of telling you that you need to give up on her.
Jess: and maybe I’m fates way of telling the people who didn’t get a second chance, that there is one.
Cecilia: that made no sense.
Jess: you know all those people who didn’t get a second chance with the one they loved? Well maybe I’m fates way of telling them there is a second chance out there for them.
Cecilia: this is worse than I thought. You are clearly head over heels for a girl, who has a boyfriend, and your not him.
Jess: you know maybe you we’re just something to keep my mind preoccupied so I don’t kill Logan.
Cecilia: maybe.
Cecilia heads for the door.
Cecilia: I think I could have really fallen for you.
Jess nods his head.
Jess: I didn’t think this was anything more than a spring fling. Maybe I should have told you.
Cecilia smiles a weak smile.
Cecilia: maybe.
Cecilia opens and shuts the door. Jess sits down on the couch.

Lorelai: I can’t believe we only had two movies.
Luke: I can.
Lorelai: how?
Luke: your so picky with the movies now that you we’re only bound to have 2.
Lorelai: I see.
Luke and Lorelai keep walking. Then Lorelai stops.
Lorelai: I think we’ve covered the whole town of Stars Hollow.
Luke: so do I.
Lorelai: I guess we could just go back to the house, and cuddle.
Luke: sounds good with me.
Lorelai: good, it sounds good with me too.

Lorelai walks into the town square.
Everybody: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Lorelai laughs. Lorelai makes the rounds saying hello to people. The music starts. It’s one of her favorite songs, I Will Always Love You . She looks around for Luke, but he isn’t there. She sits down on the park bench that Luke and Lorelai sat at so many years ago at her wedding shower. Luke sits down next to her.
Luke: why aren’t you dancing?
Lorelai: Luke!
Lorelai and Luke kiss.
Luke: happy birthday.
Lorelai: thank you, how did your meeting go?
Luke: Kirk did very well.
Lorelai: your suitable to run a diner?
Luke: yes.
Lorelai: good.
Luke: wanna dance?
Lorelai: why Luke Danes, are you asking me to dance?
Luke: I think I am.
Lorelai: how shocking.
Luke I know it.
Luke and Lorelai kiss. Then Luke leads her on the dance floor. They start to dance. Lily looks at Logan.
Lily: you wanna dance?
Logan looks at Lily.
Logan: sure.
Logan and Lily get on the dance floor and start to dance. The song changes to a slow song. Logan and Lily change positions. Lily looks at Logan. He starts to smile. She leans in to kiss him.
Logan: Lily don’t.
Logan and Lily separate.
Lily: did I do something wrong?
Logan: no, your perfect. I have a girlfriend.
Lily: so?
Logan: I’m not like that.
Lily: not according to what people say about your past.
Logan: I’m different now.
Lily: oh okay.
Logan’s phone rings. He answers it.
Logan: hello? What? Now? I haven’t even had a whole week? No! Fire? Damn, I’m coming.
Logan hangs up his phone.
Logan: that was the boss, I gotta go.
Lily: okay.
Logan: your great Lily, it’s not you at all. If I didn’t have a girlfriend, that I was madly in love with, I would definitely go after you.
Lily smiles small.
Logan: will you tell Rory I had to go?
Lily: yes.
Logan: thank you.
Logan hugs Lily.
